PROMOTING THE PARTICIPATION OF INDIGENOUS PEOPLES IN THE CONVENTION ON BIOLOGICAL DIVERSITY (CBD)

We supported the respect and recognition of the rights of Indigenous Peoples regarding their relationship with nature, their lands and territories, as well as the critical role this relationship plays in the protection and conservation of ecosystems, species and genetic diversity.

ACTIVITIES CARRIED OUT:

  • Participation of Indigenous Peoples in the CBD with youth, women, men and elders from the seven regions that make up the International Indigenous Forum on Biodiversity (IIFB).
  • Participation of Indigenous Peoples in meetings with the Subsidiary Body on Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice (SBSTTA) and the Subsidiary Body on Implementation (SBI), COP13, side events and other capacity building meetings
  • Formation of the communications team and dissemination of news and information articles related to Indigenous Peoples, biodiversity and climate change through the IIFB website
  • Development of case studies for their contributions to biodiversity conservation, sustainable development and human well-being
